two-layer pink oyster linoleum reduction print

the reference photo i used was of the pink oysters we grew last winter!

choreomania close-up: for extra dimensionality, florence’s head and aspects of her dress are fussy-cut from a separate sheer of card.

the border is inspired by a mash-up of antique enamelwork mourning jewelry. this, and the typography were the first parts i painted.

the background behind the skeletons is entirely hand-stippled black over cream, using color theory to give the illusion of gold.

poppies, representing delirium and intoxication, are painted into the background, border, and the lace overlay of her dress.

blood spatters were applied to her feet, legs, and skirt by hand. the lyric ribbon was also inspired by mourning jewelry and mourning ephemera.

stippling used two entire micron pens and took weeks
